How Clarifying Serum was developed
Clarifying Serum was developed with fellow Acne Fighters, who couldn’t use acids-based Glow Exfoliant. One of the fellow Acne fighters, JunQi, shared his story here. We went through many variations before finalising on this current formula and it has since then benefited many others who couldn’t use acids-based spot treatment.

Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Stabilised Vitamin C)
✓Effective against Acne
Study showed that Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP) reduces P. acnes bacterial count. P. acnes bacteria is the specific bacteria responsible for acne. Another study conducted on volunteers with moderate to severe acne showed that after 12 weeks of usage, skin condition significantly improved.
Reduces pigmentation (red/brown marks)
✓SAP is able to reduce the formation of pigments(melanin). The red/brown marks (post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation) left after pimple/acne have healed are a kind of pigmentation.
Other than being effective on reducing blemishes, SAP is able to promote the synthesis of collagen, leading to increased skin firmness.
✓Protects against free radicals
SAP protects skin against free radicals (pollutants). It has shown to quench reactive oxygen species effectively, reducing skin aging.
P.S. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is different from unstable L-ascorbic acid as well as other forms of Vitamin C.
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)
One study found that Niacinamide gives comparable results to Clindamycin (a topical antibiotic), without the risk of bacteria resistance developing. Another study found that Niacinamide is effective and safe in alleviating symptoms of mild to moderate acne.

How to Use
For spot treatment
Dispense a pea-sized amount onto fingertips and apply onto blemishes, including pigmentations. Use twice a day. Recommended to use after Skinlycious Gentle Calming Cleanser and Skinlycious Hydrating Serum.
Dispense a pea-sized amount onto palm. Mix with 1-2 pumps of Hydrating Serum and apply to whole face and neck.
Q1. How long do I need to use before I can see results?
A1. You should see your existing acne getting smaller in size with just one or two applications of Blemish Corrector. For best results, use together with Gentle Calming Cleanser and Hydrating Serum. For new acne to stop popping, a good estimate is 2-3 months. Anti-acne products need time to work. Some people might experience faster results but usually those are the milder cases. After 3 months, if you still do not see any improvement, it’s best you consult a doctor as you might need medication.
Q2. Any side effects or peeling?
A2. No peeling and no side effects!
Q3. Are there any products that I should avoid when using Clarifying Serum?
A3. There are concerns of using acids (AHAs & BHAs) together with Niacinamide. It’s said that Niacinamide might react with acids to form Niacin. Although niacin can cause facial flushing in some individuals, it is not a harmful ingredient. However, it’s still controversial if these two ingredients can/should be used together. Hence, we have separated our acids and vitamins treatment.
Q4. What is Stabilised Vitamin C?
We used sodium ascorbyl phosphate, which doesn’t turn yellow as fast. While the usual Vit C that turns yellow quickly is L-ascorbic acid.
